About Dr. Donovan

Neila J. Donovan, PhD, CCC-SLP has been a practicing speech-language pathologist for 30 years, treating individuals with acquired neurogenic disorders of speech, language, and swallowing.  She received her PhD in Rehabilitation Science, with an emphasis in Communication and Swallowing Neuroscience from the University of Florida in 2005.  
           
Following graduation Dr. Donovan spent two years at the North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Administration Medical Center as a Rehabilitation Research and Development Associate Investigator in the Rehabilitation Outcomes Research Center of Excellence.
 
Dr. Donovan came to the LSU Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (COMD) in 2007 as an Assistant Professor.  Currently, she is an Associate Professor, Director of the Communication Outcomes Research (COR) Lab and Director of Graduate Studies.  In 2009 she was appointed Director of Community Outreach for the LSU Life Course and Aging Center.  Nationally, she has served on the American Heart Association Stroke Council, and adult language program committee for the American Speech Language Hearing Association.  Currently she is on the Executive Board of the Academy of Neurologic Communication Disorders and Sciences.  Check out Dr. Donovan's CV and published articles on the next 2 pages.
